The Best. August 27, 2010 Leapbaby I have owned several printers and this one has been the best for ease of use and setup. Prints slow in color but worth the wait, great color. I have not used it to print any pictures but feel it will prove to be just as good or better than what I have owned before.
Great Printer for Price August 27, 2010 Christine Lawton (Anaheim, CA) I was initially looking for just a scanner when I came across this "all-in-one" unit. The setup to the wireless was easy; the installation was easy; the print quality is very good. The 5 separate ink cartridges had me worried at first but if you get non-OEM replacements, the cost is a little over $1.00/cartridge. For what I am using it for, it is great. Also, there is an APP on the iPhone which will allow you to print from the iPhone directly to the printer, wirelessly.
Excellent First Impression August 27, 2010 SLOSifl I received my printer today, and had it fully configured on my wireless network within minutes. The push-button wireless setup was excellent, and worked with my Linksys router with no need to enter passwords or anything else. Immediately after I configured the printer, I was sending pictures from my phone to the printer, and by the time I walked into my office, they were waiting for me.
I tested it on my Windows Vista desktop by printing a photo from a Kodak Photo CD I had developed recently. Side-by-side, the original hard copy from the photo lab and the printed 'copy' were identical.
I also made a test scan of a magazine page, and it handled the glossy paper perfectly. The image, when zoomed in, was very good. I could see individual dots of ink on the printed page. I scanned at max resolution and the process was painless and fairly speedy given the resolution I requested.
I've gone through a good number of printers in my life, although I've almost always made a generational leap with each new model. This was my first wireless printer, but I couldn't have asked for an easier configuration. Overall this is an excellent multi-function printer and scanner. I do wish it had BlueTooth included. That is apparently a $30 upgrade by means of a dongle. It installed just fine on my Mac, and the software included is actually pretty solid (only tested on my Windows desktop, not my Mac).
The BlueBox discount made it a no-brainer, but even the 'normal' discounted price is well within the range I would pay for this printer. I'm actually kind of excited about a printer...
Impressed. August 26, 2010 zack Frazier I've had so many HP printers over the years and hated them all. All Canon products I've ever owned have been great so this printer caught my eye. I just needed a decent quality printer/scanner to occasionally print photos or contact sheets and my taxes once a year.
The software is dull but useable. It works, at least. I'm a Mac user on Snow Leopard and like the other reviewer I went straight to the Web site to download the latest drivers.
The small screen interface and controls on the machine are well designed. The memory card slots are great. The pictures come right on the screen; use the scroll wheel to navigate. Select "print" and then the size you want. Feed the paper in the back and a full-bleed beautiful photo pops out 30 seconds later. You could find a lot of people who would be hard pressed to tell the difference between a real photo. Very nice.
The iPhone app is awesome. Search for "canon printer"; it shows up right at top. It took seconds to install. The software acts just like the Photos app. It shows your albums, faces, etc. You select the photos and they go into a queue. Go into the queue and select the paper size and print. Works great.
This is a nice machine.
Gobble Gobble August 25, 2010 Robert Riley (Highland Park IL) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Just have to add my two cents since I see this is a special today.
I bought this printer for my wife last Christmas so she could use it with a Sony laptop from across the room.
While it recognized and ran right away with a Mac mini no matter how many times I tried to configure it it never worked with the laptop or my main Windows PC.
Of the dozen or so printers I've owned through the years this was the slowest to warm up I've ever seen. It took a minimum of 4 minutes to be ready to print anything and then would take a minute or so more to process and print the first page. After that it would do ok on speed and there were never any problems with print quality.
The past tense is used in this review because for the last two months it has been completely unavailable for use because the paper feed although it makes a noise will no longer pull paper into the printer no matter how many or how few sheets are available and no matter what angle they are at.
As a present this was a real turkey.
