Great investment August 22, 2010 Bells201 I love this press it saves me so much time and does a great job. One word of caution - it is hot so watch your hands when you put clothing between the press (the top is hot). This item has also saved me about $ 30 a week in pressing at the dry cleaner. I can press a pair of pants in about 2 minutes. If I were to wish for one thing that would be a bigger water resevior but I can live with this one.
good August 22, 2010 Chuck Nice product. Only thing is that the board is little too small for my 2XL shirts (as well as XL). You burn top of your hands by accidently touching upper heating plate so you really have to watch your hands while moving around.
Built in sprayer is not impressive. Better to use hand held sprayer to spray water - much better and faster to get wrinkles out. It would get 5 stars if there more space between two plates and 4" longer plates and improve steam spraying.
I give up! August 5, 2010 Peggy R. Leven (callahan) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had three of these - two had bad thermostats that were beyond fixing and one had a faulty "steam shot" feature that stopped working. Each time, I just bought another one. Finally, I upgraded to the more expensive (much more expensive) and larger Singer model. In the first year, it was in the repair shop twice. During this past year (the second year), it was at the mfg. for two months, came back, and four months later, it's not working again! After talking to the distributor/mfg. - they are NOT helpful and basically told me "too bad" it's beyond the warranty period. I've given up. Another $500 shot. The retail store where I bought it (a sewing store) has been very nice, but I feel guilty about being a pest. They even paid the mfg. for the $100 repair bill last time. I don't think it's worth putting another $100 into again. These things are a marvelous tool, and you get used to having them and feel you can't do without one! I do! I swear, I use them only for home use (weekly ironing of T shirts, pants, PJ's, pillowcases) But, I'm resolved to have to spend anywhere from $300 - $500 every couple years for a new one! I've tried a couple different brands - all the same problem. Bad thermostats!!! I may try to get a family member who's in the commercial laundry business to get me a commercial one - the ones for home use are no good, in my opinion. I'd rather pop for $1,000 and get it over with!
Great Product and saves big $$ from sending pants to cleaners July 4, 2010 T. Springer (Vancouver, WA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have always wanted to have one of these presses for my pants. I am very particular about creases in my pants and also like well pressed table cloths. After much research and reading many reviews I bought this press. I did get some great knowledge from the other reviewers, but one thing that is not mentioned is that when you use the steam shot and then press your pants (or whatever) it leaves little steam hole marks. I solved this by using an old pillow case on top if what I am ironing and it works beautifully. This also keeps your clothing from getting that "iron shine". The only issue I have is one that is mentioned quite often in other reviews - the time that the press heats when actually pressing the clothing is too short, I don't mind the alarm, but 10 seconds is too short - quite often I use two pressings per area. This also may be due to the fact that I like really strong creases in my pants. The other thing is that this will not press small or intricate areas like shoulders in shirts very well. I use an iron for that still. I also do not use that little water bottle that comes with the press. I use a normal size one that sprays much better. Additionally, pressing your pants (or other clothing) when they are a little damp works well. One reviewer made the suggestion to try working with the machine cold when you first get it so you have the hang of it when it is hot - very good idea and it helps you to understand the positioning that you need for the clothes to get pressed properly and not get burned. I did not buy the stand since it fits perfectly on my ironing board and is very stable.
All in all a great machine and it has saved me a large amount from my dry cleaning bill. I would recommend this press whole heartedly.
